Greetings,

This page will cover our adventures kayaking the waters of Delaware (and beyond...).  Denise, Summer and myself are rather new to kayaking, even though I have threatened the girls with kayaking for quite some time.  Like most things I do in my life, I plan, make educated decisions and contemplate purchases with a great deal of apprehension, deciding if I am about to purchase the best, most correct and have obtained the most for my money.  Searching since late last summer and narrowing down our kayaking needs to "sit-in's" and singles for everyone, I had started looking early this summer for kayaks.

I had looked at all the brands, reviewed them and started to kick some tires.  Then out of the blue, Summer and I were driving down Rt.1 past L.L. Bean Outlet store and saw a large banner saying "Kayak Sale".  It was L.L. Bean's annual Memorial day sale.  They had a truck load of approx. 250 kayaks.  We started looking them over and contemplating the cost, comparing it to kayaks that I had already been pricing out.  We decided on three (telling Denise after the fact, that she now owned her own kayak) and you can check out the details here: equipment.  The kayaks are all Old Town's and are decent units from all that I had read prior to the purchase.

The purchase was a DEAL!  If you check out the suggested retail of kayaks and the prices I had already researched from local dealers and online sales, it is best described as a good deal.  The total "suggested price" for all the equipment that we bought at L.L. Bean is: $1899.00.  My purchase cost that day was: $1153.00 (this is everything except the lifejackets).  Again, this was a good deal, so watch out for the L.L. Bean Outlet Memorial Day Sale.

The kayaks and oars were in perfect shape.  So how do they become candidates for the Outlet Store.  From what I was told, it's a deal that L.L. Bean has with Old Town to sell their "Blem's".  There was nothing wrong with our kayaks, as far as I could see and I looked over each of them with a fine tooth comb.  We have had them out many times and nothing has shown as a fault and we are very satisfied.

As we venture out each time, I hope to share our trips and adventures for all to enjoy.  Hopefully this will fill a void for others trying to find great places to kayak.  If you know of any good kayak trips for us to venture out on, please drop us a line.
